Competition analysis to Know SEO Keyword Difficulty

Competition analysis to Know SEO Keyword Difficulty

Great websites usually do not bother with the keyword competition. But for the new website, is mandatory.

Here's why:

New website under the age of 3-6 months will normally not be able to get a high ranking when competing with websites that are aged over it.

Because Google has not believe us.

For that we should look for keywords with low competition yet, so we have quite a lot of visitors without long waits.

By doing so, we are in Google's reputation will also be formed.

Here are the steps you should do to perform competitive analysis keywords in SEO.

One thing you need to know

There is a misunderstanding that always made people who had met SEO and keyword research.

Be careful not to get stuck bandwagon.

If you ever go to the Google Keyword Planner, definitely see a column called "Competition" like this picture:

Beware.

This has nothing to do with SEO.

Google Keyword Planner's tools for AdWords. So the competition is meant here is the difficulty level of the AdWord advertisement.

High indicates that keyword in more ads, while the low means little or no advertising.

Do not use as a benchmark for SEO.

Okay, continued.

1. Install MozBar or SEOQuake

When he wants to know the level of difficulty of a keyword, it means we have to know whether the websites that exist on the website page 1 large or not.

For that, we need this tool.

Install one only, not both:

MozBar probably better than SEOQuake because the numbers that are shown in less than SEOQuake. Only numbers are important.

So if you want a simple, select MozBar. if you want a very complete, select SEOQuake.

Both are free and can be used to analyze keyword competition. No matter whichever you choose.

After installation, try to do search on Google.

You'll see anything like this, for MozBar:

And as for SEOQuake:

If not, try restarting your browser, activate the newly installed extension, or click the corresponding buttons at the top right of the browser (Chrome).

If it is, we go.

There are a lot of numbers and symbols in search results. Especially in SEOQuake.

In order not to bother, I will explain one by one.

2. Look at the numbers PageRank (PR) or PA and DA

The sense first:

PageRank or PR is a number from 0-10 that show how the reputation of the website according to the algorithm made officially by Google. N / A indicates that the website has not had a PageRank.

But unfortunately the number of PR is now no longer updated.

PA (Page Authority) is a number created by Moz of 0-100 that indicates how high the reputation of a web page. Not official figures from Google, but the algorithm is made in order to approach.

While the DA (Domain Authority) is similar to the PA but for the entire domain. Not per page.

So the higher the PR, PA and DA, it is increasingly difficult competition.

Conversely, keywords that produce websites with numbers PR, PA and DA Low competition is usually easy.

Typically, it is said to be "easy" is the PA and DA is below 25.

But that alone is not enough.

we further analysis with other digits.

3. Check the number and quality of backlinks

We know that the backlinks are one of the biggest factors that affect the ranking of a website in search engines.

Backlink is also the one that affects the numbers PA, DA, and PR.

Therefore, the more backlinks mean more tough competition.
for SEOQuake:
  • L: the number of backlinks to that page
  • LD: the number of backlinks to the entire domain

And this for MozBar, like the image above there are two parts:

  • Left: the number of pages that provide backlinks to that page
  • Right: the number of pages that provide backlinks to the entire domain
  • While RDs (root domains) means the number of domains that provide backlinks.

For example, in BBC.com there are two articles that provide links to two different pages in seobloggerhow.blogspot.com. Then the figures so MozBar 1 on the left, two on the right, and each one RDs.

But only the amount is not enough.

In fact, many websites that use black hat SEO techniques so backlinknya lots and PA / DA is large.

Therefore, click the number to see its backlink.

When the amount of his many, but apparently most of the topics are not related to the page, it could be relatively easy.

4. See the title and topic content

Relevance was the number one.

That is, the correspondence between what people search through these keywords with results displayed by Google.

As a search engine, Google would want to display the correct results.

But there are also keywords that have not provided relevant content.

An example of this:
>>>>

If you look at his keyword, I want to learn how to read the sun in order to know what time it is.

But look at the result.

there is only the sense sundial, how to make a sundial, even how to determine direction.

Not too relevant, right?

If we create content in accordance with those keywords, even Wikipedia can we beat on a daily basis. But Not relevant

5. Look straight quality content and website

Actually, this is the most easy and accurate.

Same as the number 4 above, this can be done without using any tools.

The logic like this:

Google will always strive to show websites with the best content in the top position, because people will be satisfied if given the best content.

Therefore, the key is quality.

To determine the quality of a website and its content, visit each of which is on the first page.

If it was not good, it is easy.

Even if the PA / DA is big and backlinknya a lot, but if the content is ugly, then you can certainly be ranked first.

So, it depends.

If you feel able to make the content better than them, meaning this keyword easily. If you can not, it means trouble.

Analysis of many keywords at once

If you follow the steps from the previous chapter in the keyword research guide, you'll have hundreds and even thousands of keywords.

Therefore, it would be hard to analyze one by one.

Therefore, use the Term Explorer.

Although not 100% accurate, but the Term Explorer we can use as a reference in order to eliminate keywords that are too difficult.

Like this:

The scale goes from 1-10.

From one click of this course we've got two keywords with the competition is very easy (though one was not worth it).

In addition to analyzing the competition, Term Explorer can also be used to find new keywords and search volume per month. Such as the Google Keyword Planner.

If you want to try, please register free version.

That's all the steps that we can do to analyze keyword competition. Next, we will discuss more about the Long Tail Keyword.
