Keyword Strategy: Prioritizing and Implementing Keyword Research Results to Website

Keyword Strategy: Prioritizing and Implementing Keyword Research Results to Website

This is the fourth chapter of the series keyword research guide

There is confusion happened after the process keyword research and competitive analysis.

Where the selected keywords?

How do I use keywordnya?

How many times must be included in the content?

Useless we do research for hours or days if we do not know how to choose the best keywords and how to use them.

That's covered in this guide.

1. Conduct analysis of the level of difficulty

First, we must know the difficulty level first.

How to analyze keyword competition we've discussed in the previous chapter, there are several ways ranging from manual (with MozBar or SEOQuake) or automatic (with TermExplorer).

We discuss automatic way.

Automatic Analysis: with TermExplorer

Which is much easier.
  1. Click the Keyword Analyzer menu at the top, click 'Start a Keyword Analyzer Project'.
  2. Paste keyword from an Excel file that you have saved. (File CSV of Keyword Planner, already discussed here)
  3. Before pressing the 'Start Project' change the country

Wait a few seconds / minutes.

When finished, click the Download CSV:

Then you can open this file in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

TermExplorer will produce a much more complete analysis.

Difficulty Score you can see in the right column:

Done!

In a single step we can determine the level of difficulty many keywords at once, this is much easier.

There is one more way, semi-automatic analyzer using the Long Tail Pro.

Semi-automatic analyzer with Long Tail Pro

The only drawback of TermExplorer that number is strictly limited. If we want a lot of keyword analysis, then we have to pay more.

If we are a little keyword list does not matter.

But if we have a lot of keywords, is going to be expensive.

Therefore, the best way is the Long Tail Pro.

With Long Tail Pro, we can easily filter, sort, and get the degree of difficulty.

stages:

1. Click on the Find Keywords, then click the 'Add My Own Keywords'

Paste all your keywords, then click 'Generate Keywords & Fetch Data'

Wait for it to finish.

2. Click the 'Calculate' to get the level of competition

Although slower than TermExplorer, but you can do as much analysis.

The process is also easy.

2. Determine the priority keyword

It's easy.

Something like this consideration:

  1. Avoid keyword by volume (avg. Monthly Searches) is low but high difficulty
  2. Prioritize keywords with high volume and low difficulty
  3. Prioritize keywords with medium volume and very difficulty
  4. Prioritize keywords with low volume, low difficulty, but it is highly relevant to your target market
  5. Prioritize all highly relevant keywords, regardless of its difficulty
  6. Remove keywords that do not make sense

There are two more things:

First, do not delete keywords with high volume and difficulty. It still can be used later when your website is large enough.

Second, you should do the analysis manually (with MozBar or SEOQuake) to websites on the first page of Google for each keyword that you seek.

because the competition figures are not always accurate.

To record his priorities, create a new column named Priority in your Excel. Then enter a number from 1, 2, 3... according to the priorities you want.

>>>

Whenever want to create new content, you can use these keywords in order of priority.

Priority based on the types of keywords

In addition to competition and volume, there is one more consideration: search intent.

We have learned in the previous chapter that there are four types of keyword based on its intent:

  • Informational
  • Navigational
  • Commercial investigation
  • transactional

Not understand yet? Read on search intent Guide.

Because navigational do not we use, then we have only 3. If you follow the guide to keyword research from previous chapters, you now have three files each for one intent.

Where we kind of priority?

It can be seen from two sides: the quality and quantity.

In quality, the quality of content on keyword should be the most high transactional. while the lowest informational.

In terms of quantity, on the contrary.

Quantity informational keyword higher than transactional.

So try that your website pages are eyeing transactional keywords are not too many but must be highly qualified.

The reason?

Visitors do not like seeing a lot of content to offer the product.

The main purpose of people browsing online is to search for information and find solutions to problems, and therefore be sure to allow plenty of useful content for them.

3. Understand the types of content appropriate for a particular keyword

Before, one thing first:

Content is not just articles.

not also just videos or images.

When I speak of content, in addition to which it was also able to include a tool, a file to download, review of the buyer, the product sales page, and others.

Essentially anything on a web page is content.

Okay, continued

For the investigation of commercial and transactional keyword, usually we need not content articles, videos, or pictures.

Not enough.

For example the keyword "promo tickets".

For those keywords, you will not be able to get to page 1 on Google if you just make a new article that contains promos every month.

Google understands that people do not need an article.

Its quality should be higher.

Therefore, try your search on Google with the keywords. Ranked from 1-10 contents tool to find the price-ticket promo. Not an article.

How to determine the right type of content

Actually not difficult. but unfortunately, many website owners do not care. They prefer to create content articles, because it is easy.

But it is useless.

So do this:

Position yourself as a person who wants to find on Google.

Imagine that you are currently searching for those keywords on Google. What content is approximately you expect?

I give an example:

  • Keyword: "canon 60D sell". - Content: Canon 60D product sales page.
  • Keyword: "selling DSLR cameras". - Content: the homepage of an online store that sells cameras (because the key word is not specific).
  • Keyword: "DSLR cameras". Content: explanation of DSLR cameras.
  • Keyword: "Best DSLR cameras". Content: the article contains a list of the best DSLR cameras
  • Keyword: "canon 60D". Content: Canon 60D product page of the official website Canon

Like that.

From now on, no more rush to make articles for all types of keywords.

Pay attention to the needs of its contents.

4. Using keywords in content

This is where many people make mistakes.

SEO is now different from before 2013, since Google launched the algorithm named Hummingbird.

In the past, like this:

SEO practitioners use the keyword research results repeatedly in its website. The goal is that Google understands that these pages targeting these keywords.

For example the article with the keywords "how to eliminate computer viruses".

The keyword is written repeatedly, and Written like keywords that appear on the Google Keyword Planner.

After that, given the bold / underline / italic.

Now, like this:

We do not need to bother using keywords in the content. As long as we create content that the contents of those keywords, Google will understand.

So, for the last keyword, you just make an article which contains guidelines eliminate computer viruses. No need to write keywordnya exactly that.

As it was the way it works.

With the Hummingbird, Google can understand the topic of a page even though we did not write the key word.

So what to do?

The first, and most important:

Do not care about SEO at all, when you create content.

Use the keyword as a topic only, then create content without worrying where to put those keywords.
In addition, you also do not need to use bold / italic / underline her every time your keyword appears.

If it is too think, in fact, your content, so it was not enjoyable.

But that does not mean his keyword is not used at all.

there are three places where we should include the keyword:

  • caption
  • URL
  • backlink

That is all.
