Assessing and Improving Performance Keywords in Your Website

Your keyword research results are not always accurate with reality. Although research has shown great results, but it could be keyword performance is not satisfactory.

Rate website keyword performance should be performed routinely to generate optimal impact. Do not worry, it is not difficult.

This performance ratings specifically for you who already have a steady traffic from search engines.

If you are a new website owner, this information may be helpful new after a few months ahead. But it does not hurt to learn this science now.

Because we will use Google Analytics which has been linked to Google Webmasters Tools, you should connect the two accounts with your website to get the data.

Google Analytics

Open your website account. Google Analytics then go to the Acquisition> Search Engine Optimization> Queries. At the bottom right, replace 'show rows' of 1 to 500.

After that export data in Excel format.


Open the file you've just downloaded to Excel or Spreadsheet, and then open the sheet named Dataset 1. Highlight row 1 and then activate the filter from the menu Data> Filter.

keyword Planner

Go to Keyword Planner later than earlier Excel file copy of all data in columns Queries and paste into Google Keyword Planner.

Download the data from the Google Keyword Planner, in the form of CSV.

Copy Data Avg. Monthly Visit of this CSV file and paste it into Excel first we had, in the blank column on the right.

performance impression

Add one more column on the far right with the title "Performance Impressions". Enter the formula for this column Performance Impressions = Impression / Avg. Monthly Visit. Copy down, ignore that generates an error (#VALUE!).

This is your keyword performance. The more close to 1 means that the better performance, while the smaller the number means the performance is not good and should be repaired.

Sort Queries based Avg. Monthly Searches to determine priorities.

Performance CTR (Click-Through Rate)

For a different ranking position in the search engines, standard CTR figures also vary. Position of rank one gives a higher CTR than position 2, and so on.

Advanced Web Ranking has been made a graph showing the numbers CTR for each position.


Data was obtained through empirical testing. Position 1 approx getting CTR by 32% of desktop users and 30% of mobile users.

That is, if your website is ranked first, 32% of people doing searches will visit your website.

Well, from the Excel file before we can see the CTR for each keyword. Note especially the keywords Position Average value of less than 5. Adjust the chart above.

If your CTR is lower value than the graph, it means you are less good performance.

Improve the performance of keyword

Impressions of the performance, we can determine which keywords are potentially large but poorly optimized. While CTR performance we can judge whether we have good use of the title.

To improve performance impression, you have to increase the SEO of your website and the level of relevance to the keyword. The trick there are two, first by improving the existing page so that more and more both SEO. Secondly, by creating new content relevant to those keywords.

Meanwhile, to improve the performance of CTR you have to change the title (meta title) of the page that appears in the search results. Lower CTR could be because you are using a title that does not attract the interest of potential visitors.
